SKSA Launch Sites in Eastern Long Island

Listed below are some publicly available Long Island put-ins. SKSA provides this list as a reference only and makes no guarantee of safety, suitability or accessability of any of these locations. Recommendations regarding appropriate skill levels are guidelines only and it is the sole responsibility of the paddler to determine if any location is safe for their use on the day of their trip. You are the captain of your ship and SKSA and it's referrers assume no liability whatsoever for use of this information.

Many sites lead to areas that are not suitable for novice paddlers. Paddlers should know their skill level and limitations - even experienced paddlers never paddle alone. Most sites present different conditions of safety and paddlability depending on tides and wind. At all times the weather on Long Island is quite changeable and can offer threatening conditions with little warning. Monitoring weather and tide during a paddle is essential for a safe return. Always know where you can land in an emergency.

Access is based on the best data available when this page was last updated. It is the responsibility of the paddler to read and obey posted regulations which define changing access requirements at the individual sites. Where possible contact numbers are given for current information. This list is intended as a service to the paddling community. Please help us keep the data current and grow the list. Please Contact us to update information or to submit additional sites.

Please be environmentally conscious and courteous and help keep put-ins open to the paddling community. More put-ins elsewhere in the state can be found at the NYS-DEC webpage: New York State Boat Launch Sites

The Canal may offer significant current due to tidal changes. The ramp is broken concrete and slippery and the shoreline is sandy mud. Check local tides as Penniman Creek is only 2 feet at low tide.

Located off Montauk Highway in Quogue, take Quogue Street south 500 feet then turn left onto Shinnecock Street. Follow this approximately 1/2 mile then take a left onto Quaquanatuck Street which terminates at the ramp. At this time there appear to be no fees or permits required for this site which is maintained by the Village of Quogue. Call 631-653-4498 for more information.
